Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 August 2026
This policy covers the Auto Video Splitter mobile app and the website at videospliter.web.app. It describes what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. It is written to be specific rather than exhaustive — if something is not listed here, we do not collect it.
1. Your videos are not uploaded
Splitting, cropping and thumbnail generation all run locally on your device. Your video files are never transmitted to us, never stored on our servers, and never seen by anyone at our end. Clips you produce are written to your device and stay there until you delete them or share them yourself.
There is one exception, described in section 4: if you import a video by pasting or sharing a link, that link is sent to a processing service. The link is transmitted, not your existing video files.
2. Permissions the app requests
| Permission | Why | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Photo library | To let you pick a video to split, and to save the resulting clips. | No |
| Camera | To record a video directly in the app instead of picking an existing one. | No |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback on taps. Can be turned off in Settings. | No |
| Notifications | Occasional app announcements. You can decline, and the app works normally. | A push token is registered |
| Internet | Ads, analytics, and link-based import. | Yes, see below |
We do not request contacts, location, microphone-only access, or your calendar.
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used — which screens are opened, which clip durations are chosen, whether a split completed or failed. This tells us what to fix and what to build.
What is collected:
- A randomly generated identifier stored on your device. It is not your name, email, or phone number, and it is not linked to any account.
- Device model, operating system version, language, and country.
- App version and events such as opening a screen, completing a split, or changing a setting.
Clearing the app's data or reinstalling the app resets this identifier.
4. Link-based import
The app lets you import a video by supplying a link. When you do this — and only when you do this — the link you supplied is sent to our processing endpoint, which passes it to a third-party media processing provider that retrieves and prepares the file.
That means the URL you chose to import is shared with that provider. We do not send them your videos, your identifier, or anything else about you. If you never use link import, no link is ever transmitted.
You are responsible for having the right to use any content you import. See the Terms of Service.
5. Advertising
The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. Ads rely on an advertising identifier provided by your operating system.
- On iPhone and iPad, we ask for your permission before any tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalised.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Google → Ads, and opt out of ad personalisation there.
Google's own handling of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy.
6. This website
videospliter.web.app uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand where
visitors come from. If you arrive through a campaign link, the tracking
parameters in the URL (such as utm_source and
utm_campaign) are recorded so we know which channel brought you.
IP addresses are anonymised.
If you open the home page from a phone, you are sent once per browsing session
to the app store for your device. Adding ?noredirect=1 to the
address disables that. The Privacy Policy and Terms pages never redirect.
7. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data reaches only the service providers that make the app work:
- Google — Firebase Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, AdMob, Firebase Hosting.
- A media processing provider — receives only the link you choose to import, as described in section 4.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
8. Retention
Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Firebase, after which it is deleted automatically. Videos and clips live on your device only, under your control — we hold no copy and therefore cannot delete them for you.
9. Your choices
- Decline the tracking prompt on iOS, or reset your advertising ID on Android, to stop personalised advertising.
- Decline notification permission — the app works fully without it.
- Uninstall the app to stop all collection. Deleting the app removes the local database and every clip stored in it.
- Write to us to ask what we hold about you, or to request deletion. Because our identifiers are pseudonymous, we may need the identifier shown in the app's Settings screen to locate anything.
10. Children
Auto Video Splitter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will remove it.
11. International transfers
Our service providers process data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, those transfers rely on the safeguards published by the providers concerned.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
13. Contact
Questions about this policy, or a request about your data: videospliter@jwetmobil.com. We aim to answer within a few working days.
